As a musician, Nicholas plays a variety of instruments and has recorded several CDs over the years in his own studio in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. These CDs include regular music CDs, as well as a CDs with shamanic and medicine content.
Although he cut his teeth on rock music, he is also very much drawn to both North African folk and rock music and medieval music, especially the songs of the Southern French troubadours - active between the 11th and the 13th centuries - and the collection of 13th century Spanish songs to the Virgin Mary compiled by King Alfonso X el Sabio of Castile, known as the Cantigas de Santa Maria.
He collects musical instruments, especially Arabic, North African and medieval plucked stringed instruments, and over the years has played with many gifted musicians, both formally and informally, including ensembles such as Misericordia and members of the medieval ensemble Sinfonye. He also has a fairly large selection of both acoustic and electric guitars and other more conventional folk instruments.
His music draws upon many elements from rock, folk and medieval music.
The Shamanic CD include shamanic drumming, designed for journeying to, a CD of Lakota ceremonial songs such as pipe songs for people who wish to learn them, and some other CDs with a shamanic theme.
